چکیده
Background: in recent years, proper management of posttraumatic craniocervical instability is possible. However, there a paucity literature with long follow-up these patients. Purpose: To assess outcomes after surgical treatment occipitocervical fixation or without fusion. Methods: Among 20 patients unstable junction who underwent was an equal number both females and males mean age 62.85 ± 17.23 years. The NDI, neck pain VAS, neurological assessment by ASIA score, imaging, complications, bony fusion were assessed. Radiological anterior dental interval (ADI), posterior (PDI), Occipito cervical angle (POCA). RESULTS: Clinically all presented only one tetraplegia. 90.8 months. A solid achieved 100 % the NDI VAS improved significantly from 26 6.4 7.7 at presentation to 15.3 3.6 final follow-up. atlantodental (AADI, PADI), (POCA) significantly. One patient required early revision. CONCLUSION: Occipitocervical can be considered valuable option high rate fewer complications. Temporary occipital may later removal but associated unintended occipitoatlantal

Occipitocervical fusion.
The evolution of occipitocervical fixation and new rigid universal screw-rod construct technology has allowed secure anchorage at each level of the occipitocervical junction with the elimination of rigid external orthoses. Rigid occipitocervical instrumentation constructs have achieved higher fusion rates and less postoperative immobilization-associated complications. Outcomes have improved com...

Study Type Retrospective cohort study. Introduction Craniocervical instability is a surgical disease, most commonly due to rheumatoid arthritis, trauma, erosive pathologies such as tumors and infection, and advanced degeneration. Treatment involves stabilization of the craniovertebral junction by occipitocervical instrumentation and fusion. However, the impact of the fixed occipitocervical angl...
متن کاملSurgical Outcomes and Complications after Occipito-Cervical Fusion Using the Screw-Rod System in Craniocervical Instability
OBJECTIVE Although there is no consensus on the ideal treatment of the craniocervical instability, biomechanical stabilization and bone fusion can be induced through occipito-cervical fusion (OCF). The authors conducted this study to evaluate efficacy of OCF, as well as to explore methods in reducing complications. METHODS A total of 16 cases with craniocervical instability underwent OCF sinc...

PURPOSE To report on 14 consecutive cases of occipitocervical fixation. METHODS Records of 8 men and 6 women aged 40 to 81 (mean, 57) years who underwent occipitocervical fixation and were followed up for a minimum of 2 years were retrospectively reviewed. Neurological grading was assessed before and after surgery using the Ranawat grade. Intra-operative somatosensory evoked potentials were m...
متن کاملPosterior Instrumentation for Occipitocervical Fusion
Since 1995, 29 consecutive patients with craniocervical spine instability due to several pathologies were managed with posterior occipitocervical instrumentation and fusion. Laminectomy was additionally performed in nineteen patients. The patients were divided in two groups: Group A which included patients managed with screw-rod instrumentation, and Group B which included patients managed with ...
